Doppler Shift: When a light wave comes closer it becomes slightly bluer (shorter wavelength) and when a light wave becomes more distant it appears redder (longer wavelength). The same phenomenon can be heard by sound (ever heard an ambulance approaching?). This phenomenon is called the 'Doppler Shift'.
